Why Was Legacy Planner Created?

Monte Holm, co-founder of Legacy Quest, experienced early in life the loss of his father and two brothers through sudden fatal heart attacks while they were in the prime of their lives. He experienced first hand the emotion, turmoil, and stress felt by those left behind in the wake of a sudden death. Seeing them struggle with their emotions while, at the same time, trying to locate and prepare important documents, created a sense of urgency making him consider later in life how the experience could be less frantic, especially for a grieving spouse and parent looking for a moment of closure. The memory of this experience is a constant motivator and driving force behind the initial development and continuous improvement of Legacy Planner “To provide for his family now what his father could not do for him.” Our goal is to help you organize insurance papers, titles, deeds, and provide for that moment of closure that would otherwise be gone.

Monte also grew up feeling the void of not knowing his father better and missing his father’s wisdom and advice after his passing. Gaining insight into his father’s passions, intellect, and traits became an ongoing quest through friends and family; to hear and record stories about his father. Even though he now knows more about his father, there lingered in his mind a question: “What if Dad had written about his own life?” Legacy Planner is the answer to the question “What if?”

Following some initial development of Legacy Planner, Monte and his son, Steve, met with Hyrum Smith and his son, Joseph, to build upon the Legacy Planner concept. As the creator of the Franklin Planner time management system, Hyrum recognized Legacy Planner’s potential for powerfully influencing the way people communicate with their families across multiple generations. The Holms and Smiths formed Legacy Quest, LLC, through which company they have worked to fully develop Legacy Planner-the most powerful tool available for planning and organizing the needs of the individual, loved ones and future generations.
